Alaska

Go where the landscape makes you feel small.

Why Alaska

The last frontier, still wild.

Alaska doesn't ease you into it. Glaciers calve into the sea, whales surface beside the ship, and the scale of everything, the mountains, the ice fields, the silence, resets your sense of what "big" means. It's a trip built around nature rather than itineraries, and for travelers who want a genuinely different kind of vacation, nothing else on the list compares.

The places worth knowing

Not everywhere. Only where it matters.

Juneau

Alaska's capital, reachable only by air or sea, with the Mendenhall Glacier a short drive from downtown.

Skagway

A Gold Rush-era town frozen in time, and the gateway to the White Pass scenic railway.

Ketchikan

Totem poles, salmon runs, and some of the richest Alaska Native culture on the Inside Passage.

Glacier Bay & Tracy Arm

Fjords lined with calving glaciers, best experienced by ship, where the scale truly lands.

Denali National Park

Home to North America's tallest peak, and some of the best wildlife viewing in the state.

Anchorage

Alaska's largest city, and the usual starting or ending point for a land-and-sea itinerary.

Experiences worth traveling for

When should you go

Late May through early September

Alaska's cruise and travel season runs May through September, with June and July offering the longest days and warmest temperatures. Late May and September bring thinner crowds and often better wildlife viewing.

How long should you stay

7, 10, or 14 nights

  • 7 nights: a round-trip Inside Passage cruise
  • 10 nights: a one-way cruise paired with a few days in Denali
  • 14 nights: a full land-and-sea journey from Anchorage to the Inside Passage
What should you invest

A comfortable investment

Alaska can be shaped around many budgets, from a straightforward round-trip cruise to a fully custom land-and-sea itinerary. As the investment increases, you move toward premium cabins, private wildlife and glacier excursions, and small-group flightseeing over the larger tour options.

Make it even better

Alaska pairs beautifully with more.
